Stepping into freelancing is exciting, but it comes with its own set of risk. My first year as a freelancer taught me more than any course or job could. Here are the key lessons I learned that may help anyone considering this path.
# Time Management Is more than important
When you start working freelance, you are both the boss and the employee. At first, I underestimated how easily i can manage it all. Setting a to do list, working on it daily, schedule again and again, and creating time for focused work helped me stay productive while avoiding burnout.
# Communication is the key
Transparency between clients are important. I learned to deal with clients and clarify their project in detail. and before my work i setup deadlines and payment terms not to get a future dilemma.I was punctual in updates whether the work is going in track or am i facing any problem in between were updated for maintaining a strong relationship and prevent misunderstandings.
# Value Your Work
Its common for beginners to accept works at cheap rate as you ae just getting started.as soon as i was confident enough to work in big projects with all my previous experience, i started to charge fair enough ; as i realised it was important to sustain. yet it made a difference in attracting my potential quality clients even after stating my price made me the happiest.
# Consistent Learning Pays Off
Freelancer never stick in to one ; marketer, designer, creator, personal accountant. We switch our roles as wearing dresses. And still not over one ,we find time to learn new skill and stay updated as industry trend change day by day. It might sound competitive while its an actual confidence booster.
# Save a bit
expenses are unpredictable. while i generate an income a small portion always goes to my savings .so when a crisis come i don’t have to panic, it has always given me a piece of mind.
